Cheap Scrapbooking Method Using Potato Stamp

Have you ever thought of a cheap scrapbooking method using a potato stamps technique?

When I was in primary school, I still remember our art class where we use potato to make prints and stamps. It was actually pretty simple and the results were quite good.

How can we use potato to make stamps for our scrapbooking project?

You’ll need potato, knife, marker or pen, scrapbooking papers, paints and paint brush and any unused plate.

First, you need to cut your potato into half and  draw your pattern on it using pen or marker. You can  sketch your idea on a piece of paper first  before you try it on your potato. You can also use cookie cutter to make an imprint on your potato so that you can trace it using your marker.  This is the easiest method but you need to find one that can fit your potato size.

Once you are satisfied with your pattern, use the knife to carve the shape on the flat side. Be careful when doing this because you could easily hurt yourself if you’re not paying attention to what you’re doing.

Pour some paint on the plate and use brush to apply it onto your potato stamps. If you’re lazy, you can just dip your stamp directly into the paint but it’ll be a bit messy. Once you’ve it covered with paint, you can start stamping your scrapbook paper using your very own potato stamps. You can wash and dry it using paper towel if you want to use different color.

Let your stamped papers dry for  a while before you start using it. Walla.. now you have a new scrapbooking paper for your scrapbooking project.

I found this video on You Tube (TM) that explain how to make potato stamp using cookie cutter. Thought you might like it. Enjoy :)
