It seems natural to be following a baby’s development with lots and lots of photos. And when the photos started to pile up, it makes more sense to start putting them in a photo-safe album, which is actually  the best way to preserve those memories.

You can create your baby scrapbooking journal in the form of  chronological album. Start from pregnancy and birth and then scrapbook about the baby’s progress from month to month.

Having said that, you can also be more creative and start making a baby album of all baby’s firsts. Baby’s first smile, baby’s first word and baby’s first step are just a few ideas.

You can write little poems and add them into your baby scrapbook. Sometimes, this little things really add to the mood of the story that you are tyring to tell in your scrapbook.

Creative Baby Scrapbooking Checklist

Creative Baby Scrapbooking – A Checklist For You

You are addicted to creative scrapbooking and want to attempt baby scrapbooking project. But you do not know where to start. I faced this same problem when my aunts ask me to help scrapbook her newborn baby.

Here are the steps that I took before I attempted this project:

1) Gather all the photos that I want to use and sort them out

I was having problems with the photos as everything were mixed up and they were not even in the albums. Some of the photos were slightly damaged but I still have to use it because we do not have copies of those. I guess my aunts were so busy with her baby that she didn’t take care of the photos :(

2) Choose the theme

Well, my aunts doesn’t have anything specifics in her mind. She just want something that focus on her baby.

I can do themes based on baby welcoming, baby showers, meal or bath. The problems is, I don’t have enough photos to create a specific theme like this. In the end, I just did a very general scrapbook… highlighting the baby and his parent and mixing some chronological theme in between

3) Draft the layout for the theme and choose the color scheme

I used a mixture of layouts – nothing special. But I paid attention to the color scheme to make sure that the scrapbook flows nicely. I chose blue color scheme because the scrapbook is for a baby boy.

I had layout highlighting the baby with only one photo at the centre stage and some writing on the sides. This is to introduce the baby itself. For the baby meal, i chose three photos of the baby and arranging them like a pyramid. The big one is on the top and two smaller ones at the bottom. These are just some of the layouts that I use.

I saw some nice looking template page on the net for the baby theme, unfortunately I couldn’t get them from the craft shops here. So, I had to do it manually .. i know, it is really time consuming, luckily it was only 15 pages.. phews….

4) I prepare all the materials that I need

Some scrapbooking papers, ribbons to bind the pages, protective sleeves, adhesive, craft scissors, stickers, some gold and silver markers and glitters

5) Then I start my first ever baby scrapbook

It took me about two weeks to complete it because I was busy with my work at that time and only had weekends to do it.

It wasn’t something that’s super duper artsy but my aunts was very happy and couldn’t stops looking at it. Wow.. I feel so happy for her :)

I thought I’d share this cute photos of his small feet.. I really like it.. isn’t it cute?

Baby Scrapbook

You can start as early as the pregnancy detection. A photos showing you and the pregnancy kit’s result will be a great start if you choose this option.

You can keep a journal documenting your biology changes and also get your husband to help with the photos. That way, he can be involved too!

I saw people taking photos of their tummy, showing how it grows each months. If you are not comfortable with that, you can include photos of the mom receiving ultrasound and maybe also include the ultrasound captures of your baby growing inside you.

How about photos and entry on how you prepare that nursery for your baby?  The color that you choose for the wall, the cribs and toys that you purchase and also the photos of that nursery when you have everything completed.

These are just some ideas to get started. There are more things that you can do to create a creative baby scrapbooking project. Get your partner or family members involve in this project and watch how the scrapbook evolves.

Baby scrapbooking is a great mementos for the journey that your baby will never remember.
